AUBURN, Placer County — November 4, 2026, 12:16 a.m. Pacific. One of Placer County’s closest school-board contests has just a nine-vote margin in the election-night report.
Official semi-official election-night results
Kim Barry received 2,209 votes (49.85%) and Carrie Featherston 2,200 (49.65%). The district’s Area 2 also recorded 22 write-in selections, including qualified and unqualified write-ins, according to the official report.
What the local contest means
One trustee is being elected from Area 2, so a nine-vote difference is a direct contest for the single seat. The report shows 24 of 24 precincts, but remaining valid mailed and provisional ballots can change the order. This is a high-school district election, not Auburn City Council.
Why the results are not final
Placer County Elections lists this as its election-night semi-official report, data refreshed November 4 at 12:16 a.m. Pacific. The report states all assigned election-night precincts have reported in these races. However, further eligible mailed, provisional or otherwise verified ballots may be processed in the official canvass. The counts and rankings are not certified, and no November 5 post-election tally is claimed here.
