PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — October 27, 2026. Placer County Library introduced a new automatic renewal feature effective October 15, 2026, allowing up to two additional renewals for eligible materials without requiring patrons to take action.
How the project or program works
Two days before an eligible item is due, the system checks whether a renewal is permitted and extends the loan period automatically. Users who supplied email or text contact details receive a notification of the new due date. The feature can reduce unexpected overdue materials and trips to a library branch for routine renewals.
What residents should verify
Not every item can be automatically renewed. State Parks passes and books with a waiting list are examples of excluded materials, whose original due dates still apply. Patrons should verify their personal checkout status in the library app or at placer.polarislibrary.com rather than assume the limit applies to all items.
